Tuesday January 15, 2008 5:35 am Calgary, Alberta

I do not have Internet access this morning.

A. Morning Musings

As near as I can tell this morning, there has been no snow or rain overnight. But it is obviously very windy. It is too early to make plans for the day. Once I pick up a weather and road report for both Calgary and southern Alberta, then we can decide whether to do some driving in the city this morning (I would like to visit a model train store on the north side of town) and whether we should head back to Lethbridge in the early afternoon. The third option would be to stay in Calgary one more night and let this storm blow over and the roads get back to normal.

I brought my Wikinomics book with me so I still have lots to do. The three books I bought yesterday are still in the car, but if necessary I can go out and get them.

Learning Category Planned Activities for Today Time
Model Trains Visit store in Calgary about DCC turnout control 2 hr
Literature Continue reading "The Pillars of the Earth" by Follett 1 hr
Literature Add a review to my list of book summaries (#6) 1 hr
Technology Complete reading "Wikinomics" by Tapscott 2 hr

B. Actual Learning Activities

6:30 PM

Another productive day. I spent a full two hours at Trains and Such. Much of the time was spent with Dave Bedard, the store's DCC & Sound consultant. Now to see if I can make sense of the notes I made at the time.

The drive back to Lethbridge was fine until we got to Claresholm. We hit snow, low visibility, and slippery road conditions. Fortunately it only lasted until a little past Fort Macleod. But there was about 3 inches of fresh snow on our driveway when we arrived home. The temperature had dropped about 20 degrees as well. So much for summer driving conditions.
