A. Morning Musings

5:30 am

The first task this morning is to put the coffee on the boil.

Then I will spend an hour doing a little math. It is a nice way to begin the day. Calming, relaxing and logical.

Frank & I have a meeting set for 3 this afternoon at the Backstreet Pub.

I have a recipe for a bean chili that I plan to make this evening.

I am beginning to take control of my exercise ("bicycle" exercise for abs, plus a walk) and diet (less!).

Overall, the day looks good.

This will be my second activity with the Weiner book. The topic is "Factoring Difference of Cubes" on pages 4 - 5.

All of these problems were very easy. However, if I had not been aware to look for the difference of cubes, I would have been overwhelmed with the complexity of the expressions. This is an important aspect of mathematics - noticing patterns.

Once again, the inclusion of problems involving limits shows where one would need this algebra.
