C. Actual Learning Activities

This has been a very productive morning. I have created two Mathematica Notebook files for the week 3 web pages for my calculus learning. I would like to complete two more for week 4 and then I will have my Mathematica and Summary notes pages in synchrony. This makes it less confusing to keep track of what I am learning.

I also happened to notice that I had not added links on the left margin for my July and August time chronology pages. That has now been corrected.

Back from a visit to the Chapters bookstore:

• South of the Border, West of the Sun (1998) Haruki Murakami.
  • After reading Kafka on the Shore by Murakami, I couldn't resist buying another one.
• Cloud Atlas (2004) David Mitchell
  • I just finished reading Number 9 Dream by Mitchell. I definitely want to read more by him.
• The Satanic Verses (1988) Salman Rushdie
  • I knew I would buy this book some day. Today was that day.
• Midnight's Children (1981) Salman Rushdie
  • This won the 1993 Booker of Bookers award as the best of the first 25 Booker Award novels.
• The Successor (2003) Ismail Kadare
  • This won the Man Booker Prize for 1995.
• The Interpretation of Murder (2006) Jed Rubenfeld
  • This looks interesting - and it is written by a Law professor
• Moving Targets (2004) Margaret Atwood
  • This is a collection of notes and essays about her writing.
• Last Harvest (2007) Witold Rybczynski
  • A description of the evolution of a new sub-division.
• The Mathematics Survival Kit (2005) Jack Weiner
  • A superb collection of brief mathematical ideas useful for calculus.

Needless to say, I am delighted!
