A. Morning Musings

7:20 am It is 0 C with a high forecast of +15 C.

Here are the news.

CBC Headline: Flooding Threatens More Sask. Communities

Flood waters in both rivers and lakes north and west of Saskatoon are in danger of flooding due to a combination of high snow levels, rapid spring melt and high moisture content in the soil. 13 communities have been declared in a state of emergency. This is unusual for this area. Usually spring flooding is in south east Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba.

Canadian Headline: see above

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Combet Demands IR Detail

"AUSTRALIA'S union chief has warned Kevin Rudd to finalise his industrial relations plans in one week, at Labor's national conference, or run the risk of failing to win over cynical voters at this year's federal election." This is more campaigning leading up to the national election. This is a repeat of yesterday's headline as The Australian does not update its page on Sunday.

My weight is steady at 184. Good.

B. Actual/Notes

7:30 am I have my morning coffee and began the day by watching about a dozen Bohemian Waxwings in the birch tree across the lane.

10:15 am I have completed another web page (Feb. 17) for our bird watching activities in Mexico. I must admit that I am enjoying doing this, although it is a bit embarrassing to realize that it was two months ago.

8:30 PM We spent about 3 hours this afternoon looking for birds near the Par 3 golf course. It was great to be outdoors again. Following that I went for a fitness walk in the coulee and spotted a few more birds. One of these was a Lesser Scaup, which was a new lifer for us. After a nice break (and drink) with neighbours I told Phyllis about it and we went back with camera and I got a few good pictures.
