A. Morning Musings

8:00 am I am back to my regular early morning Internet-based routine. It is -6 C at the moment with a high of -1 C forecast. There is a light snow falling. It has been doing this since noon yesterday and is forecast to continue for at least another day. Mmmm, the coffee tastes great.

Here are the news.

CBC Headline: Iran State Radio Reports "Positive Changes" In Case Of Captured British Sailors

There is little additional news. This story will eventually resolve itself, but at the moment both countries are anxious to avoid losing face. The games we play, and the media is a clear player.

Canadian Headline: Aerospace Industry To Get $900m Boost

An announcement is expected later today but it is reported to be provided for reserach & development over the next 5 years. Much of the industry is located in Quebec and thus this is being viewed as a political decision. My reaction is: of course. That is what political parties do.

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Reports: 5m High Wave Wipes Out Solomon Islands Villages

This follows an 8.1 magnitude earthquake in the region. It is still to early to obtain accurate reports, but it is already clear that a quick, large, relief effort is needed to help survivors who are without food and water.

My weight is down 2 to 188. This was a bit of a surprise, but I am delighted to be back to where I was about 10 days ago.

C. Actual/Note

8:30 am Much of today will be devoted to updating this web site. As I realized late last night, my Literature web pages need to be updated to include scanned images of the covers, plus some commentary. That will be my first priority. Then I want to make substantial progress on providing images of our recent trip to Mexico.

9:00 am Here are two more photos showing the beginning of the spring activity of the May tree in our backyard.

And here is one more of our vehicles in the front driveway.
