The following sentences are intended to help you practice your knowledge of clauses and sentence structure.

For each sentence:

  1. diagram the structure
  2. identify each clause as independent, dependent, or matrix
  1. He thinks that I don’t know what he thinks that I said.
  2. I wonder what she is going to say.
  3. I don’t know. Do I look like a lawyer?
  4. Did he do it, or did you do it?
  5. I don’t know and I don’t care.
  6. She told me but I forget what she said.
  7. Either you tell her or I will send her an email.
  8. Susan arrived and asked for the waiter.
