Today I completed The Timeless Way of Building. This is truly a great book. Although it purports to be about architecture, it is actually much more general. Any human activity that tries to create a set of structures (curricula, recipes, web sites) would be well advised to consider the approach outlined by Alexander. I plan to return to this book often!

I am now beginning to gravitate toward "summer reading". One of the books I bought a couple of days ago, Home Town by Tracy Kidder, seems like a natural sequel to Alexander.
