My third consecutive day with the model train layout. Today I spent about 4 hours, but it was worth it. I now have a complete "tentative" working layout. I have not yet begun to fasten the track to the table, but the track is all connected. I even ran a locomotive on the mainline and it worked perfectly.

The next step is to fasten all of the hidden track so I can put the upper level layout in place.

I have also begun locating information on DCC control. I hope to locate a book or two on this when I am next in Calgary or Edmonton.

I am also beginning to read about prototypical operations.

I think a legitimate argument can be made that these activities merit inclusion into a "year of learning" web site. However I do not want this to become a replacement for the learning that occurs while enjoying a good book and a cup of coffee.
