  • Teach Yourself XML in 21 days (2003) by Steven Holzner: Day 6 (continued)

7:00 am

I had a good chat with Ron yesterday morning that helped sort out a few problems.

  • I was right: one begins by creating a schema file. Then one creates the XML file (which will contain the content). The schema file allows for rigid editing of the data as it is entered. Finally, one creates a stylesheet file to specify the layout.
  • The second point is that one can do it all in XML. Even for a webpage the data does not need to be in HTML.
  • CSS go together with XHTML.

However I am still having some trouble with both the XMLspy interface as well as with agreement between the XML file and the schema file.

Now to see what happens this morning.
