Saturday September 02, 2006 5:50 am Somerset, Pennsylvania. Day 18 of our trip to Virginia.
A. Morning Musings
5:50 am It is still very dark outside. It is + 55 F (13 C) at the moment, with a "heavy rain mist". The forecast high is + 57 F (14 C) with rain. It looks like we will be driving in the edge of the rain system generated by tropical storm Ernesto for the entire day.
It seems hard to believe that we will be back in Canada today and still a week's time away from home. The weather for the next few days is definitely iffy with 30 - 40% chance of rain and fairly high winds. Not great for birding at Point Pele.
B. Plan
We plan to drive to Windsor, Ontario today.
C. Actual/Notes
9:30 PM We arrived in Windsor about 2 PM. It rained fairly steady all morning but finally let up as we passed Toleda, about an hour from Detroit. It really felt good when we arrived back in Canada and saw the familiar Tim Hortons coffee shops. We then had a late lunch at a Swiss Chalet only a few blocks from our motel. We drove over to our friends house from Kinston times which turned out to be only a short distance away. It was good to see them again after about 10 years. We chatted for a couple of hours and then had a fine dinner in a nearby local tavern. A perfect ending to the day.
We have plans to go bird watching tomorrow morning at 8 am. It is +15 C at the moment and tomorrow promises to be a cool day with a 30% chance of showers. Hopefully this will be good day.
