Friday September 01, 2006 7:00 am Williamsburg, Virginia. Day 17 of our trip to Virginia.
A. Morning Musings
7:00 am The storm appears to have arrived. It is raining fairly heavily and there is a fair amount of rain. I am sure we will be on the road within a couple of hours but it will be a good idea to check the weather forecast before we head out. I am not sure where we hope to be at the end of the day, but it should be roughly half-way to Detroit/Windsor. Our time here has been a delight and we have definitely made some new friends which is a much more accurate statement than saying that we have met some distant relatives.
Now to begin getting getting ready for the day ahead.
B. Plan
We hope to outrun Tropical Storm Ernesto and see how far we can get. Definitely north of Washington.
C. Actual/Notes
6:15 PM We are now in a Holiday Inn in Somerset, Pennsylvania. We have been driving in the rain all day. When we first left Williamsburg this morning the rain from Tropical Storm Ernesto was very heavy, but this eased somewhat after we were north of Washington. The main difficulty was visability caused by the spray from the nearby vehicles. There is a lot of local flooding but it should not affect the interstate highways. The temperature two days ago in Williamsburg was 101 F (a record) and today it is 57 F. Nonetheless it was a straight forward driving day. We will sleep well tonight and will arrive in Windsor, Ontario tomorrow afternoon.
