A. Morning Musings

6:30 am The temperature is + 9 C with a high forecast of + 28. There is not a cloud in the sky. Perfect.

I am dragging a bit this morning. Maybe a coffee will help. Today, with a little luck, I will finish the sidewalk. I need to rent a "brick guillotine" and cut about 40 bricks to size to fit the edges. That will be a new experience for me. Then I need to sweep some sand over the layout to fill in the gaps among the bricks and to help stabilize the complete layout. I am looking forward to completing this task as it has been occupying much of my time for the last few weeks.

But first I have my scheduled coffee at 8:30 am.

C. Actual/Notes

7:30 am I continue to be amazed at the ease with which one can use the Internet to accomplish certain tasks. Just before we left Australia I noticed a book about Virginia Woolf in a friend's home but I forgot to note the details. I recently emailed her and she replied with the author and title. I have just ordered it using the Web (plus volume 3 of "The Story of the Stone" which I could not find while in Australia.)

8:3o am Coffee with Frank & Lance. A great way to begin the week.

9:30 am I rent the brick cutter-upper and begin to learn how to trim the bricks along the edges. I work slowly and steadily and am finished by 2 PM. By 3:30 I am finished sweeping sand into the gaps. The job is now officially finished, although I have to add a little dirt and grass seed along one side. The celebratory beer certainly tasted good. Tonight we will have a nice meal of pork ribs at a local restaurant. Then another deep sleep.
