A. Morning Musings

5:00 am The sky appears to be clearing. The temperature is + 6 at the moment with a forecast high of + 13. Tomorrow the high is expected to be +20, normal for this time of year.

Yesterday was a good day to simply stay indoors. Today I plan to visit a hardware store to buy some cedar stain for the fence and discuss what is involved in mortaring some cement blocks together along our back fence. I also need to buy some hardware to fix a couple of sliding drawers on one of our cabinets.

I am not pleased with my lack of routine at the moment. I seem to have (too) many plans and not enough action.

I will begin by setting up a more detailed list of tasks for the day.

History Chronology

5:45 am I am about to continue reading "Citizens", page 30.

6:50 am I reread from the beginning and am now on page 52, early in chapter 2.

The first chapter discusses the American War of Independence in 1776 and the close relationship between America (particularly Washington and Franklin) and France (LaFayette). The French applauded anything that helped reduce the British influence but failed to see the implications of supporting an idea like liberty on their own political situation which was a monarchy under Louis XVI. The second chapter appears to be about Louis XVI.

1:45 PM All three chores identified for the day have been completed. I was very fortunate to get replacement brackets for the three drawers by returning to the store where we originally purchased the unit and a very helpful clerk was able to find some spare parts which he gave to me. Installing them only took a few minutes.

D. Reflection
