A. Morning Musings

5:40 am It is dark outside at the moment. The coffee is ready and a new day is about to begin. I am feeling energized and ready to do something. We plan a trip to Ballina for a cappuccino at Pelican 181.

My packing was not as thoughtful as it might have been. I have no fiction books to read.

We watched a program on 60 minutes last night about some high tech schools that Tiger Woods was setting up. My first thought was to do some further research and see what is involved. Perhaps I could apply to be an instructor. This led to the idea of doing something that more directly applies to students in Alberta. This led to the idea of web authoring and this web site. But I want the approach to utilize XML. Yet it should be child-friendly. This is the type of idea that I was hoping would happen while staying at this rainforest retreat-like environment. I also want to get in shape for a hike to Mt. Assiniboine. With no time commitments, I can pick a window when the forecast is good and just go.

Now to return to History and "In Search of the Dark Ages".

B. Plan

Chores: a few groceries

C. Actual

6:00 am History: make notes for "In Search of the Dark Ages" - chapters 1 - 3. Done. 7:05 am

4:20 PM While reading chapters 4 & 5 of "In Search of the Dark Ages", we kept an eye on the bird bath. We identified an Emerald Dove for lifer number 142. In addition we saw Lewin's Honeyeaters, Red-browed Finches, White-throated Honeyeaters, a Whitethroated Treecreeper, Eastern Yellow Robins, Grey Fantails, Silvereyes, Striated Thornbills and a Rufous Fantail. Earlier in the day we had a couple of Laughing Kookaburras in the yard.
