6:55 am The storm appears to be over. There is a light breeze instead of strong winds and the sky is a mix of cloud and blue sky. The last three days have been a bit of an adventure with gale force winds, heavy rain and strong waves. The coffee tastes good this morning.
I think I am back on track with my mathematics Learning and calculus. That is a good feeling. However I need to add another activity to my daily activities. I will continue reading "Ideas" by Peter Watson. Then when I get to the part about Ancient Greece I will switch to two other books that I have on that topic. That should keep History on the front burner to accompany Mathematics. But I need a good yarn to accompany this non-fiction. I will keep my eyes open. I am also looking for a good book on digital photography.
Thinking about photography reminds me of an idea I had while living in Byron Bay a few years ago: to create a book on the fences and houses of Byron Bay. I also need to continue to learn how to use my camera under different conditions. So far I have learned to:
- remove the lens hood when using the flash
- open the flash when the Backlight message appears on the viewfinder
- do not use digital zoom on the camera (do this with the computer)
- keep the quality setting on high jpeg - this gives maximum megapixels
- let the camera determine focus and aperture by using the AE setting (Auto Exposure)
Not a very impressive list. I must try a few images using TIFF and RAW to see if I can see when I might want to use this. It might be a good idea to actually read the manual that came with the camera.
We will definitely have a cappuccino at The Pelican 181 today. Now for a little math. 7:35 am
