A. Morning Musings

6:50 am I need my coffee this morning. I am having difficulty engaging in the day. I will begin with a quick email check and web surf for the news. Then I can update the web pages from yesterday. 7:00 am

7:25 am One email that required a reply. Not much news. The uploading of pages was quick and easy. I think I am now awake and ready for the day. Reviewing my list from yesterday, I can form two groups:

Technology

  • Update Birds website for this visit to Australia.
  • Follow "Chapter 1 Getting Started with Stylus Studio" online documentation.
  • Revise History web site for uploading to server.

Other

  • Read & make notes for "The Story of the Stone" vol. 1.
  • Begin specific bird watching trips.
  • Go bird watching on lighthouse trail at Byron Bay.
  • Redo scanned History mind maps using Mind Genius.
  • Read "Dumbo feather, pass it on." Issue 7.

I have only three chapters left in volume 1 of "The Story of the Stone", so that is a prime candidate for action. 7:35 am

B. Plan

7:35 am Chores: A few groceries.

Exercise: Tummy exercises & beach walk.

Technology: Begin revising History web site.

Literature: Read & make notes for chapter 24.

History: Read chapter 2 of Ideas.

Food, Mathematics, Art and Drawing will not be active. 7:40 am

C. Actual

7:40 am Listening to Odetta while sipping coffee is a fine way to begin the day. Yesterday I was accessing the CD using Windows Media Player. This morning I tried accessing it with iTunes. That reminded me that I must try matching this CD against the iMusic website to see if I can download the information about each song. 8:00 am

8:00 am I have begun to create my History web site. This was surprisingly easy. I scanned about 6 book covers and revised a few pages and in less than an hour was finished. Great. Now to check on some of the links between the Journals and the Notebook pages. 9:00 am

1:20 PM I read chapter 24 of "The Story of the Stone this morning before we left for a trip downtown. We are now back from a very nice cappuccino at the Pelican 181 and then some quick grocery shopping. That will be all the chores for the day. Basically we have decided to take it easy - there is a place for very little. 1:25 PM

1:30 PM Now to try to tie-off the last details for the new History site and the links between the sites. I corrected a couple of problems with the links, but overall it seems to be working without any technical difficulties. 2:10 PM

5:10 PM A very relaxing afternoon. I read and yellow highlighted chapter 2 of "Ideas", then read and made notes for chapters 24 & 25 of "The Story of the Stone". The only item remaining on my list for today is the beach walk. I have a strong feeling of satisfaction as this web site is beginning to fall into place where I do not have to spend much effort on the web development and can focus on finding a balance between Learning activities and other life activities.

8:45 PM We are back from our walk along the Richmond river. We saw the prawn boats leave but only saw a couple of dolphin fins in the water tonight. On returning I finished reading the first volume of "The Story of the Stone" and made my notes for it. 8:55 PM

D. Reflection

8:55 PM I made all of the goals for today, and then some. I finished reading volume 1 of "The Story of the Stone". I think I will take a break before beginning the second volume. That is similar to my strategy for Proust's "In Search of Lost Time" where I have completed the fourth volume and still have three more volumes to go. I will wait until tomorrow to decide which novel to begin with next. Completely revising and posting the History web site was unexpectantly easy. I may work on the Birds web site before tackling the Mathematics web site which will be more complex and difficult. Tomorrow is Australia Day. I have bought some snags to put on the barbie and I have a cold beer in the fridge, so we are ready for the day. 9:05 PM
