Saturday January 14, 2006 6:10 am Ballina NSW A. Morning Musings 6:10 am Saturday is a time for less productivity and more recreation. I will put Stylus Studio on the back burner for the weekend. The light above the kitchen table just burned out. I will see if there are any extra bulbs in the house, but I may have to go out and buy one. I have made my Plan for the day. There is very little on it. I want to try to resolve a couple of "left over" problems with Technology but other than that I only have Literature as a substantive item. The Currawongs are making a lot of noise this morning. 6:40 am B. Plan 6:20 am Thinking about Learning:
C. Actual 6:40 am No email of note. Web: Mostly sunny. 50 % chance of light showers (1 - 5 mm) for the coast. High of 28 (31 in Lismore). The connection to Lismore dropped so I will not be able to test the uploading for awhile. 7:00 am 11:00 am We have just finished a very leisurely cuppa on the back patio. We both agreed that this activity needs a higher priority. Earlier this morning we did our walk to Shelly beach. We saw a Red-backed Fairy-wren (1 male - red, and a half-dozen female - brown) on the path just this side of Shelly's on the Beach. I have just used AceFTP to upload this site to the web. Now to check that the updates can be directly uploaded using Dreamweaver. Strange. Dreamweaver indicates that the upload was successful, but when I access this page on the Web, I do not see the revised version. Okay, I have it working now. I somehow had created an extra level of folder on the web server. Now to add a couple of images from earlier this morning. Here are a couple of the hibiscus plant in our backyard, one with a Noisy Miner bird. And finally a close-up of this image:
1:40 PM We are back from a trip to Kmart & Coles. I now have two more books. Frank McCourt's Teacher Man was on sale for $24. and George Negus book on Islam looks interesting. It is pretty hot outside and a cold beer is tasting mighty refreshing. Before taking the afternoon off, I want to try inserting an avi file on to this page. No success. I will pull back on this for the time being. 2:40 PM 5:40 PM I have just finished making my notes for chapters 8 and 9 of "The Story of the Stone". This took about an hour and brings me up to date with my reading. It is time to try the next recipe, and then after dinner I hope to continue reading "The Story of the Stone". This has been a calm day, and it looks like I will complete the various activities I identified in the morning. D. Reflection 9:00 PM Dinner was a genuine success. I would rate the meal as a "5", my highest rating. The steak was tender and delicious with just a hint of the mustard rub. The real trick was brushing the potatoes (both sweet and white) with a water and honey mixture. Here are four time-lapse images of the event:
Frame 1: the wine is used to measure time Frame 2: the apron is necessary to protect me from splatters Frame 3: salivation begins Frame 4: success! Instead of reading, we went for a walk along the Richmond river - a 5 minute walk from our unit:
A perfect ending to a perfect day. Very relaxing - the best way to spend a Saturday. |
