Wind north 20 km/h gusting to 40. Temperature falling to minus 10 this afternoon. Tonight Clear. Increasing cloudiness overnight. Wind becoming west 20 km/h after midnight. Temperature rising to minus 5 by morning. Normals Max: 1°C Min: -11°C.

5:30 am Morning Musings

It is cold and dark outside. A good incentive for a little musing.

There was some snow overnight so the driveway and walks need shovelling. It is time to think about putting up the outdoor lights and buy a Christmas tree for the house.

Today is staying cool so I may try for a geocache that is tagged as being winter friendly. There are only 3 Lethbridge caches left to find. One is a night cache (i.e. I need a flashlight to look for the clues which are made out of a highly reflective material), one is tagged for winter, and one may be difficult with snow now on the ground.

Now for indoors. Model trains, Literature, and Science are all on my agenda.

7:00 am Science

I have reread chapters 6 and 7 of "The Tree of Knowledge".Muratana

Here is my mind map for these chapters:

knowledge

[Addendum 8:20 am] I have finished reading the last 3 chapters of "The Tree of Knowledge". Hopefully I will complete the cognitive map tomorrow morning.

10:00 am Literature

I finished the second volume of the Bone comic book anthology this morning. A good yarn, and excellent drawing. But not as satisfying as a wordy novel.

11:30 am Geocaching

I am rapidly running out of caches close to home. I found one this morning that will be much more difficult once there is lots of snow on the ground. That only leaves 2 more in Lethbridge and the well will be dry. Both of the remaining caches are rated as winter friendly.

4:00 PM Model Trains

I have begun running trains for Session 2. So far I have formed the consist for Train #601 and then ran it for the period 1:00 am to 2:00 am. This involved some switching at Wild Rose. This time I ran into some trouble with the track layout. Two of the spurs were about 2 inches two short to accommodate both a boxcar and the locomotive. Fortunately there was enough room to add the extra length so that was quickly done.
