4:00 PM Geocaching
I noticed a cache about 10 km from Lethbridge that had a pair of DNFs (Did Not Find) and decided I would see if I could find it. As I approached the area I could see that it was heavily tramped down but it still looked overwhelming. After about 20 minutes of searching the area I began to broaden the area and soon spotted it lying on the ground in the open (but among the deep grass). Here is my post of the log:
"The container looked like it had been moved by an animal with sharp teeth or claws (not likely a duck) a distance of about 30' from the original coordinates. Some of the camo was missing (which helped me spot it!) but it is still in fairly good shape (2 of the clasps are broken) but the lid still fits securely. I returned it to a location closer to the posted coordinates. SL. Thanks for bringing me to an area I would not have seen otherwise."
I really enjoy going out with the specific goal of searching for a single cache, and then finding it.
5:30 PM Puzzles
I noticed a free app called Igowinfor Tutor my iPad2 that provides a Go tutorial. I immediately downloaded it and gave it a try. Exactly what I need.
One can begin playing games on a 9x9 board and you then move up or down a rating level depending on whether you win or lose. Go ratings begin at something called 29 Kyu and move up to 10 Kyu. I have always wondered what level would be a fair value for myself. I quickly played 6 games, winning 5 of them. I now have a rating of 25.2 Kyu. I feel that the current level is still too low, as the program is relatively easy to beat.
10:00 PM Literature
I am continuing to read "Alone in the Classroom". I really like her writing.
