4:00 PM Geocaching
I put a total of 8 geocache coordinates into my Montana 600 this morning and then went out in the afternoon to see how many I could find. All of the caches were in north Lethbridge. Two of the caches were multi-caches (one required finding 4 caches, and the other 2 caches, in order to complete the requirements for a find). I abandoned one search as a group of very young muggles suddenly appeared at the playground. I quite the field after finding 5 caches, leaving 3 for another day - hopefully tomorrow.
- GC2XF06 - Letterbox/Mutli puzzle cache Carl3
- GC341XM - Laser Tag With The Fox
- GC341YG - Tucked Away
- GC34DYX - Aloha!
- GC2YF82 - Play Ball!
My posting to this website summarizes this search - "I enjoyed this one. The second stage is wet and one or two of the characters are difficult to read. This made it more interesting. It became even more interesting when I failed to realize that not all values were to be added. Great sport. Nice hides and much more interesting when there is some distance between the stages. And more enjoyable when one is not trying to find all the caches in the same day. SL. TFTC."
This turned out to be easier than expected. My GPS unit kept pointing me to the location and it was spot on.
This was the second multi-cache which provided another enjoyable walk in a local park. The two caches were about 150 metres apart.
This turned out to be the smallest cache that I have seen in Lethbridge (I saw one even smaller in Medicine Hat last year). The hint was a definite assist.
I tried to find this cache a few weeks ago, but there were too many muggles in the area to merit even getting out of the truck. Today the field was empty and I made a quick find.
There are still 5 caches in north Lethbridge to try, and another 10 in Cottonwood Park. There is also the 1 puzzle cache in south Lethbridge that I have tried to find with no success on a previous attempt.
9:30 PM Literature
I have begun reading "Alone in School" by Elizabeth Hay. I have read her earlier novel, "Late Nights on Air" and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I saw this book I immediately purchased it. Based on the first 50 pages I would highly recommend this novel to anyone.
The following sentences caught my attention:
"You're standing on French soil," he said. "Remember that." Prairie, from the French for meadow. [p. 17]
In spite of living in one of the prairie provinces most of my life, I do not recall ever realizing that prairie was a French word.
