11:50 am Geocaching

I went geocaching in north-east Lethbridge this morning. I had a total of 5 caches loaded into my Montana 600 but ended up only looking for 4 of them as there were muggles in the vicinity of one of them.

• GC31D8H - Aged Cedar

This was my first find of the morning.

As I approached the cache area I realized that the cedars were a shrub instead of a tree. I have never seen cedars like this. I wonder how old they are.

• GC2XEXF - Cache for Coneheads - CARL3

This was my second surprise of the morning. This time it was the volume of pine cones at the base of the trees. Fortunately the container was in the pine tree rather than at the base.

• GC333VD - Oh Christmas tree!

The creator of this cache put a little extra effort in camouflaging this container.

• GC2XEZJ - Dawg's Gone and Got It Carl3

This was the only cache of the four I searched for that was for the CARL3 event in June. It was a 2-stge multi-cache. I first found a container at the posted coordinates which gave the coordinates for the actual container which was about 150 meters down a paved path.

Stage one container was a magnetic keyholder on the box at the base of the post

At the end of the morning I was 4/4 since I never bothered to even leave the truck to look for the remaining cache as the area was occupied with muggles. A very pleasant couple of hours.

My global total is now 1014.
