7:00 PM Cooking

While reviewing my activities yesterday I realized that it had been a long time since I last had an entry for a new recipe. This morning I made a deliberate decision to try a new recipe for tonight's dinner. I looked at The Best of Cooking Light 12, a magazine I bought while in Kingston earlier this summer and picked one called Spiced Pork Tenderloin with Sauteed Apples. This turned out quite well. We added a side dish of Seven Grain Medley with almonds and cranberries.

To quote the magazine: "Served with a spinach salad and a glass of red wine, this dish is perfect for a weeknight dinner". We agree.

Earlier in the afternoon, when the temperature was +31 C, I tried another recipe from the same magazine - Watermelon Margaritas. This was definitely a disappointment. One problem was with the crushed ice. I used a blender and it did a poor job of breaking up the ice. But an even bigger problem was with the result of using the blender to mix the watermelon with the tequila. It created a slushy mixture that really needed to be filtered through a sieve. The recipe failed to mention this.
