6:00 PM Life

There was considerable rain overnight so we stayed away from the back yard until it dried out a little.

In the afternoon I did some work in the back yard, but had little to show for it. I decided that the stump from the may tree should be removed and spent about 3 hours with shovel and axe clearing away the roots that were near the surface. But the net result is only a small ditch around the stump. This is beginning to look like it will take a few days. This reminds me of the stump in the 1950's classic western, Shane.

We are still unsure of what we want to do along the rear wall of the yard. It is beginning to look like we will have lots of dirt left over. The leading idea at the moment is a border of low-maintenance shrubs such as junipers. But we have not decided on the details of the border between the stone pathway and these shrubs.

Dinner was a special treat - barbequed bratwurst, the bratwurst a smoked variety made at Parkland Packers in Stony Plain. It is one of our favorite meals. Truly delicious.
