5:00 PM Life

A full day in the back yard. A load of lumber for the remaining 3 raised garden beds was ordered and delivered. The load arrived by truck with a small fork-lift vehicle attached to the rear of the truck. The boards were all strapped together on a pallett and the driver made quick work of lifting the load off the truck and depositing it in our backyard.

I made a trip to the lumber yard to buy some cable and metal fasteners and have added a support to the center of the first structure to prevent any bowing of the boards with time.

Much of the day was spent removing existing 6x6 boards from the region where the new beds will be located. Some of these were fully buried in the lawn and it took a lot more effort than I originally anticipated, but that part of the job is now almost complete. A trench has also been dug through the lawn where the two 8' beds will be placed to form one 16' bed.

The boards for the second bed have all been cut to size and a preservative has been applied to the newly cut ends.
