11:00 am Geocaching
It took about 3 1/2 hours to download and install the latest update to the City Navigator North America NT map. It was interesting that the new upgrade was installed on both the Montana 600 unit as well as on my Mac. I liked that.
I was also able to transfer a geocache icon from the Montana to the map on my Mac.
I attached the Montana 600 to the automobile mount and went for a short drive to see if the voice directions for following a route worked with the City Navigator map. They did. Good. I still need to see if there is a volume control.
[Addendum: 1:30 PM] I went for a drive over town and learned that although the voice directions and route finding were fine, the actual map remains stationary on the display. This would be fine if there were a person handling it who could drag the map display and alter the level of detail but it is no where near as good as the nuvi (which is designed for driving use) for altering the display as one moves along the route. Then again, maybe there is a setting that I need to find that will give me this control. I have found the volume control.
8:50 PM Literature
I read two more short stories from "Ward No. 6 and Other Stories" by Anton Chekov. Here are the titles: "In Exile" and "Ward No. 6". The latter is the longest of the stories in this collection - slightly over 50 pages. Both stories were dreary and they weighed you down. Life in Russia in the 19th century was very difficult for the poor.
I am really enjoying these stories. Chekov is one of the masters of this genre.
