10:30 am Technology

While using my iPad2 yesterday I happened to notice that it was no longer connecting to the Internet using the 3G network. I reread the appropriate sections in an ebook I have on the iPad but was not able to learn anything about this situation. So this morning I took it into a Rogers store to see if they could help. I wasn't very optimistic as I thought it was more likely to be an Apple problem than a Rogers problem, but there is no Apple store in Lethbridge.

I showed the iPad2 to the clerk, she looked at a few settings, pressed a couple of buttons, and voila, it was working. I asked her what she did and she said that if you hold down the power button and the round button at the bottom of the device then that will cause a system reset. She said that often resolves a number of problems. There was no mention of this in the ebook. I continue to learn.

I have begun reading "Sanctuary Line" by Jane Urquhart. She is one of my favorite Canadian authors. Her prose is in a special class, it simply leaves me in awe. The story is a simple one of lives in Ontario but translates into everyone's life. It also is a nice comparison of our lives and the lives of Monarch butterflies. Neat.

It is nice to return to a novel again. Particularly a soft novel about real people living their unspectacular lives, but having to deal with the events that surround them.
