Tuesday, June 7, 2011 Granby, Quebec
5:20 am
The temperature is +15 C, with a high predicted of +25 C.
From the Environment Canada website:
Today A mix of sun and cloud with 40 percent chance of showers. High 25. UV index 8 or very high. Tonight Cloudy periods. Fog patches overnight. Low 14. Normals Max: 20°C Min: 10°C
While driving in Granby yesterday we noticed a Cora restaurant which we will return to this morning for breakfast. The battery in the camera is fully charged so we should be able to take about 900 photos if the showers hold off. The basic strategy as I understand it is to focus on photographing headstones when the weather permits and to talk to various genealogic societies when the weather is poor. At the moment it looks like we will stay in Granby for the week and radiate out on short day trips of a number of small villages in the immediate area. The weather forcast looks fairly good for the entire time.
9:00 PM
We began the day with a breakfast at the Cora restaurant. Fantastic.
Then we spent the morning taking photos of the headstones at the Riverside cemetery. Then we returned to our unit for a brief lunch before heading back out to take photos of the Farnham Centre cemetery which had a number of Burnet headstones.
9:30 PM Birding
While taking photos of the headstones at the Farnham Centre cemetery we spotted a thrush-like bird beside the cemetery. I managed to take a couple of photos of it and when we were back at the unit were able to identify it as a Brown Thrasher.
