Much of the day will be spent working on the yard. The lawns need cutting and the weeds in the back lane need to be cut down. But I have been maintaining a nice pattern of mathematics and literature which I expect to continue as well.
Immediate | Description | Time |

Literature | Continue reading "The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant " by Stephen Donaldson | 2 hr |
Mathematics | Complete exercises p. 25 - 28 from "The Mathematics Survival Kit" | 1 hr |
I decided to complete the remaining two sections on lines early this morning.
The last example was a bit of a shock. It required a level of calculus that I no longer have at my finger tips. But it does provide a glimpse of the type of problem that I will be able to handle, with ease, when I achieve my goal of relearning calculus.
I am also looking forward to seeing the graphs of these situations using Mathematica.
I am pleased with the progress I am making in bringing the activities in the Weiner book up to the point I was at in the Kelley book. It is going faster than I originally expected. The Weiner activities are primarily acting as a form of review, although he also inserts a few new topics (notably the Remainder and Factor Theorems as well as synthetic division).
I have just completed reading the first book, The Wounded Land, of the trilogy "The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant".
