CBC Headline: Greyhound Labour Dispute Curtails Travel Plans

Just in time to be a hassle this long weekend, Greyhound Canada has suspended bus services in four provinces due to a strike threat, forcing holiday travellers to seek a backup plan. Greyhound Canada, in a dispute with 1,150 workers in the Amalgamated Transit Union over a demanded wage hike, has stopped moving passengers and parcels in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and most of British Columbia. Even though we do not seem to have as many strikes as a few years ago, there must be a better way to resolve disagreements than to have strikes that affect the general public, particularly when in a situation like this, it disproportionately affects the poorer people who cannot afford the alternatives.

THE federal Government is planning an advertising blitz to counter Labor and union advertisements slamming its workplace relation regime. More pre-election stories.
