CBC Headline: Tories Stir Confusion Over Access to Afghan Detainees

Prime Minister Harper appeared to contradict the defense minister yesterday with a statement that there was no formal agreement with Afghanistan on detainee access. The issue, as I understand it, is whether people captured by Candian troops may be handed over to Afghan authorities and then tortured. This appers to be another example of poor coordination among tories as well as a very difficult situation in Afghanistan having to do with the rights of individuals under two vastly different cultures.

Canadian Headline: see above

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Voters Want Change from 'Arrogant' Howard, says Rudd

Rudd makes another speech as a lead-up to a federal election. This one focuses on the leadership style of Howard and is one that is likely to win him a few votes.

My weight is down 1 to 181.Good. I will definitely aim for 180 before the end of April.
