A. Morning Musings

7:00 am It is +4 C with a high forecast of +16 C.

Here are the news.

CBC Headline: Virginia Tech Awaits Release Of Names of Shooting Victims

32 people were killed yesterday in a shooting rampage on the American campus. We were on the road yesterday and were unaware of the tragedy until we arrived home in the evening and turned on the television. The senselessness of the event is overwhelming.

Canadian Headline: BCE Confirms Talks Of Possible Sale

Bell Canada, a telecom giant in Canada, is reviewing options that may include the possibility of it becoming a private company rather than a public one listed on the stock exchange. It has said that it will remain Canadian to meet existing foreign ownership restrictions. After the lead story, to have one like this is a relief.

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Shooter Argued With Girlfriend Before Massacre

This is the same story as with the CBC headline. It is likely to remain the top story for most media outlets for another day or two as details become clearer.

My weight is up 5 to 187. Terrible! I was expecting it to be up a little after all of the restaurant food, but that, plus a lack of walking has certainly put me back. Now to focus on getting back to where I was. Much of today will be spent walking and birdwatching.
