CBC Headline: Charest Keeps Seat As Liberals Cling To Power In Quebec

For the first time in 130 years, Quebec has elected a minority government. It was a very close three-way race with the Liberal leader Jean Charest barely keeping his own seat. The new ADQ party will form the opposition under Mario Dumont. Given that many voters were disenchanted with both of the traditional parties (Liberals and Parti Quebecois) this may be the best possible result. It gives Dumont an opportunity to show what he can do and if he does a good job then he will likely be given a chance to take power in the next election.

Canadian Headline: see above

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): Hicks Home 'In Months'

David Hicks, an Australian held in the US Guatanamo Bay for the last five years as an Al-Quada terrorist, has pleaded guilty to those charges in a US military trial, and will be extradited to Australia in the next few months to serve his sentence there. I am confident this will not be the end to this story.

My weight is up another 1 to 190. This is the second day when I have had a reversal. Terrible. One day once in a while is to be expected, but two consecutive days of increases is definitely a set-back.

C. Actual/Note

7:15 am Top priority items today are Technology and Birds. These are both catch-up activities as I continue to digitize my LP records and make web pages for our recent trip to Mexico. I will still try to add a math session and do a little Literature reading. Now to brew a cup of coffee. The weather is not conducive to walking at the moment but it might let up later today. I do not want to get in the habit of avoiding my walk. I missed it yesterday as I got caught up in working on the computer and let it slide. Now that my weight has started to go up, I must focus on reversing this reversal.

9:30 am Two more LPs have been digitized, another Billy Vaughn album plus a guitar instrumental by The Phantoms. The rain is gentle, but still falling. This will be good for the land, even though it is not a lot.

2:10 PM Here are two more photos showing the beginning of the spring activity of the May tree in our backyard.
