CBC Headline: Flaherty Opts For Broad Appeal in 2007 Budget

The budget is receiving generally positive reviews by the media. Quebec is receiving a large transfer payment and the Bloc party has indicated that they will support the budget thus assuring that it will pass and we will avoid an early election. Although with a minority government, anything can happen.

Australian Headline: (from The Australian): We Have An Enormous Fight On Our Hands, Says Howard

PM Howard has admitted that the polls show that the coalition government is far behind and that they will have an enormous fight on their hands in the upcoming federal election. The latest poll shows labor with 61% and the coalition with 39%. As with my earlier comment about Canadian politics, anything can happen.

My weight is steady at 190.

C. Actual/Note

6:00 am I have made the early morning additions to this web site. It is still dark outside. Now to put the hot water on.

My two major tasks, getting my iPhoto and iTunes files up to date, need to be attended to if they are to ever be completed. I will begin by working on the 4 record package, "American Folk Singers and Balladeers". This is one of my favorite record sets. Hopefully the records are in fairly good shape and will not require a lot of editing for noise.

11:45 am This has been a solid 6 hours, but the result is worth it. This collection included songs by Joan Baez, Ian and Sylvia, The Weavers and Odetta. It also included one of the Weavers songs, "The Banks of Marble" that I have always liked. Much of the time is spent just playing the records, but that is enjoyable time.

I have just checked a web site that gives the status of my book order from amazon.ca. The screen indicated that I should expect delivery this afternoon. Wonderful. That was good timing. I just finished typing the previous sentence when the van pulled up outside our house. Now I have two more bird field guides as well as two travel guides for Australia. This is turning into a very good day.

2:30 PM Here are two photos taken during the last couple of days that show the beginning of the spring activity of the May tree in our backyard. I will try to provide daily updates to this over the next few weeks.
