Current Research Activity :

Currently, I am pursuing my Graduate Studies (M.Sc) in the field of Remote Sensing, under the supervision of Dr. Craig Coburn. Members of my program committee include Dr. Derek Peddle and Dr. Philippe Teillet. My research is broadly focused on analyzing the effect of changes in biophysical and biochemical properties in vegetation canopies during different growth stages using BRDF and hyperspectral data. My research interests also include studying the effects of vegetation heterogeneity (canopy level) and clumping (leaf level) on vegetation canopy BRDF. I am using state-of-art instruments like the University of Lethbridge Goniometer System (ULGS 2, developed by Dr. Coburn), the LAI 2000, the Shape Grabber LiDAR System and the ASD Fieldspec 3 Spectroradiometer to study and analyze the canopy properties and developing 3-dimensional images. As an outcome to my research, I desire to derive a clumping index, which could be used to correct the BRDF of the vegetation canopy, which in turn would be useful to extract the biophysical and biochemical properties more accurately.
