This has been an interesting class. Discussions are always insightful with something new to learn. I liked the fact that Vasey incorporated video into the learning experience, and his breakdown of exams were manageable.

One of my favourite courses I have taken at this university. Dr. Vasey's explanations are exceptionally clear and thorough. I would definitely recommend this course to psychology students or anyone with an interest. Wish he offered a 4000 level!

Dr. Vasey did a great job and I particularly enjoyed how he set up his tests and how asked us to approach the taking of the tests, through critical thinking and assessment of the information rather than just regurgitating what he has told us.

Loved this class, as I loved the 2000 level with Paul. He is a fantastic lecturer and the information provided is so interesting! There is nothing bad I can say about the class!!

I am just finishing off my third year and Vasey is still my favorite prof at the University. His lectures are clear and interesting, his exams are challenging but fair, and he is very approachable if you need any extra clarification.

The course material was extremely interesting. It was great to talk about things people normally wouldn't in a class. Professor helped to engage students by making us think about things we may not have thought of before, or in ways we may not have used before. The second exam was more difficult in comparison to the others, however material covered on exams has been fair for the most part. Throughly enjoyed the course.

I loved Paul's class as always. He is very informative and passionate about his work and interest in this field. I think this encourages students to pay attention, learn, and enjoy being a part of the class!

This is my 2nd class with Dr. Vasey. I wish I could take more with him. His presentation style is engaging, his material is edgy yet informative, and his tests reflect what he wants students to get out of lectures. Well worth my time and money.

Some professors were fantastic in the lecture hall, they knew how to command respect and how to work such a big lecture hall.  For example, Paul Vasey.

Honestly, Dr. Vasey took me by surprise at how deftly and sensitively he dealt with the subjects we covered in class.  Out of what is currently a hot-button topic with liberal thinking in general, he cut to the heart of the matter with empirical examination, and extrapolated upon the data in a way that wasn’t simply beating the same issues over and over.  Also being involved in current, relevant research and having an easy, interesting lecture style really drove the course home as one of my favourite experience in my education.  It made me want to be involved in this research!  To me, Dr. Vasey exemplified everything a university class should be.  Thanks!  It was a breath of academic fresh air.

This course is definitely one of the most interesting classes I have taken during my degree. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I enrolled, but I have been pleasantly surprised.  Paul’s lectures are stimulating, often funny, and very thought-provoking.  His delivery of material is great. He is laid back, easy to listen to, and very knowledgeable. I found his slides well organized and useful.  The films we watched in class gave different perspectives and made me think. Kudos to this course. I would recommend it to anyone.

Hardest course I’ve taken so far, but easily one of the most rewarding.

This course is one of the best I have taken in my three years of undergraduate studies, at two different institutions.  Paul is clearly passionate about his work, his teaching, and fostering a positive and challenging learning environment. Even though it was a three hour night class, in an often times packed out and crowded PE 250 classroom, Paul was able to hold everyone’s attention for the whole time because his lectures were so well prepared and delivered.

Dr. Vasey is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his subject material. More importantly, being such a sensitive topic, he is able to present and teach it in a manner that is respectful and considerate.

The instructor is clearly knowledgeable and approachable.  Overall and excellent course.

Amazing course and amazing professor.

Loved this class more than I thought I would.  I learned a lot and talk about this class all the time (I think my friends have been getting a little annoyed). Dr. Vasey is a very intelligent professor and knows how to deal with a large class, including the students who disturb it.  Super fun and interesting course. 

The exams were very through and detailed and I found them very tricky however the material was interesting and I did apply it to my other classes.

The class was excellent. The material covered was very eye opening and very interesting to learn about.  More classes like these with similar subjects should be offered at U of L.  Love this class.

Vasey made the course incredibly interesting and I always looked forward to attending his class even though it was 6-9. The way he described the concepts and provided videos was an excellent way of teaching as it provided ways of remembering certain concepts as well as find the course even more interesting if that is even possible. Vasey was a very good prof for this course.  I really appreciated that he did not just read off of a slide, and that he added onto theories and concepts that were not on the slide. It shows that he is interested in this study or that he as taught these lectures many times.  All in all, it was a great class to have and I hope to take another course of Vasey’s in the near future.

I really like Paul Vasey.  He is a very good professor in conveying his ideas that he was to get across and the topic he talks about follows my interest.  Paul is quite open to discussion about anything which is nice because there is no negativity such as making the person who asked a question seem dumb.  I like how he asks us questions to make us think and all the videos he shows during class is extremely interesting.  He should continue to do so for future classes.

He makes it embarrassing for students that speak while class is in session, but it’s very effective in discouraging anyone else from talking.  It’s a large class, so even a little bit of chatter would be very disruptive.

This is the sex ed class I wish I had gotten in high school. All the information was taught well, the testing was fair and the material is very interesting.  In my opinion, this course should be required for every undergraduate.

This was a very interesting course. I’m proud that our university is open and accepting enough to offer a course like this.  I really appreciated how the readings were assigned--rather than just saying “read the whole thing”--we got to focus on the relevant information.  The exams were very fair and the lectures were very interesting, the movies added a nice little touch.

Dr. Vasey is clearly passionate about what he teaches, which makes me more interested in the material and more willing to learn.  He was entertaining and very intelligent and was open to answering any question, and considered the class focus was on sexuality, it was really comfortable knowing he would not judge and even welcome unusual questions.

I very much enjoyed the way that Vasey delivered his lectures!  Always interesting and engaging.  This class has been one of my favourites so far!  He shouldn’t change anything about this course.

This course is fantastic and well taught. The examples given in class are great and I find helped me remember a lot of the material. I study the humanities so science terminology doesn’t pop up too often, but Vasey explained the terms very well and spent a little time defining each one.  That was extremely helpful for me, as some science profs seem to just say the term and assume the students know what it means.  This course is a signifiant one in more ways then just gaining a plus one to the number of courses need to graduate.  I have learned so much more here about human sexuality than through my high school sex education classes.  It answered so many questions I had on a personal level!  Questions I was afraid to talk to my conservative parents about or that it would be socially unacceptable to discuss such topics with peers.  This course is amazing and I believe students can only benefit from taking this course...if they commit themselves to it that is like any other class.

LOVED THIS CLASS!  Dr. Vasey was fantastic.  The lectures were all very interesting and I was constantly engaged.  for the full three hours.  Textbook, lecture notes, visual aids, and videos were all great. I honestly do not have a bad thing to say about the class or the professor. I do however wish there were more psychology classes about human sexuality.  I was throughly intrigued.

Great class!  I enjoyed going and found the content very interesting (and sometimes funny). I thought the exams were tough but fair.  This class definitely required hard work, but I thought it was reasonable.  I would definitely take another class with this professor again!

Vasey is the best teacher I have ever had at the U of L  The inforatmion he presents is wonderful because it is interesting, yet actually useful.  He does not give his students a bunch of notes to take that are not relevant to the tests. 

Dr. Vasey is a great lecturer, speaks at a good pace, only includes relevant information in this presentations, and is generally pleasant to listen to even for three hours on Taco Tuesday night.  Vasey is really good at engaging the class in discussion on questions.

Overall the tests were tough but fair and the letures succesfully explained concepts.

This course was insightful and interesting, I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The professor was respectful, knowledgeable and knew how to be appropriately comedic even with such controversial topics!

The course was overall extremely excellent.  The materials we covered were very interesting and were not boring to read like many other textbooks.  The topics covered actually made you want to read the material.  The instructor is awesome and one of my favorite profs. He is laid back and friendly and is willing to talk to his students about any issue they may face and clear up any misunderstandings.  I love how open he is to accepting everyone for who they are in the field that he studies. He takes this and applies it to his students and accepts everyone and encourages them to learn and broaden their thinking.  The fairness of the exams was very fair. Overall I loved the course and loved the instructor.  I would not change the material, the instructor or the grading scale.

The course was fascinating.  I was actually excited to come to class.  Vasey is very engaging and knowledgable.  The content was extremely complex, but Vasey had a good way of making it all make sense.  The readings were also very good selections.

I adore Paul. I have loved every course I have taken with him!  The material chosen for the course was exceptional, and he never asked to much of the students.  Thank you for teaching what you do Paul, and giving the students the opportunity to learn more than what a regular Southern Alberta education offers.  What he teaches is incredibly important, and he gives his students many opportunities to expand and challenge their beliefs. I can’t thank you enough.

Exhibits a comprehensive and ever-expanding understanding of the course material, while still remaining both kind and humble towards those under his tutelage.  Dr. Vasey is always eager to encourage class discussion, and dissenting opinions, in addition to adjusting his busy schedule so as to meet with students that may be struggling.  The course content is invaluable in terms of both the information examined, and the process of dismantling personal biases/misconceptions towards said subject matter.  All in all, an excellent professor who makes for an excellent course. 

Readings were interesting and the course was set up in a way which made these abstract ideas very easy to understand.  I appreciate the focus on writing and constructive criticism that came with it.  Overall, one of my favourite course so far in my degree.

Both the classes and reading materials were extremely interesting.  I really looked forward to attending these classes.  The assignments fairly tested our overall knowledge of the concepts.  Paul is extremely knowledgeable and you can tell that he is passionate about the material.  I only wish that Paul was teach more courses as I would love to take another class with him.  I would recommend this class to anyone!

Amazing class, the course pack was picked perfectly in order or us to learn the material, and was enjoyable to read.  Dr. Vasey is a pehomenal teach, and he either needs to teach more course or we need another professor in this area of expertise.  I highly recommend both this course and the prerequisite he teaches to everyone I know.

I love Paul!  This was my first class with him and I felt he taught well and made it very interesting.  I appreciate that he will call out disrupters in class--that is a huge pet peeve of mine. This was by far my favourite class yet.  The university needs more classes like this!  The tests were quite difficult but understandable. Dr. Vasey is a brilliant professor and his work in the field adds so much to his credibility.

Dr. Vasey really made this particular class interesting.  For material that could be deemed kind of “hush hush”, he really taught it in a professional manner and kept the 3 long hours entertaining.  Night classes are always hard to sit though, but I actually looked forward to going throughout the semester.  The exams were straight-forward and if you did the readings and studied the notes, the questions were clear and concise. His teaching style was probably why I enjoyed going to the class every Wednesday.  He always took the time to serious consider and answer every students questions throughout the class and treated everyone with respect. Great prof.

This was the most interesting class I’ve taken so far.  Even though it was a night class, I had no problem paying attention and staying awake.

Paul is an excellent Professor, very knowledgable and willing to help out any students wherever possible.  Paul is by far a leading example of everything that a great instructor should be, and is a tremendous asset to the University of Lethbridge.  This class is very interesting and groundbreaking to have in Canada advancing the field of sex research.  I eventually would like to see the U of L as one of the leading sex research institutes in Canada and eventually offer some courses in sexual counseling, or counseling for the GLBTQ community.

I think my favourite part of this course was that Dr. Vasey was incredibly engaged in the material.  The fact that the includes his own work as well as the work of colleagues is good since it feels like he has a good grasp of all the material.  Dr. Vasey can be a little intimidating to approach at first but he is helpful once you start talking.

I honestly wish that there were more psychology classes like this!  Very informative, interesting and entertaining.  The instructor was very knowledgable and seemed to enjoy teaching the class.  Any videos shown in class helped reinforce the lecture material, and the textbook chosen was also very good.  If more classes regarding sexuality are offered here, I will most definitely try to take them!! Fantastic class!

I really like Professor Vasey’s teaching style.  He really helped to give a “it’s no big deal” feel to sometimes-awkward topics of sex and sexuality.  A class like this really opens up people’s perspectives to some sensitive topics and I feel like everyone would benefit form this kind of thing.

Paul knew his material very well and was open to questions in class.  The course was interesting and educational.

The course itself is unconventional to me because it covers materials and knowledge that is typically avoided in formal education and in conversational topics form the culture I came from.  From this course, I did not just gain a significant amount of knowledge in human and animal sexuality but also learned the importance of having comprehensive sex education in a public education system.  It helps me to be more open-minded to various sexual attitudes and behaviors and to better understand and take care of myself in sexula aspects of life.  What is unique about the course is that the professor is one of the very few researchers in the world dedicated to the topic of sexuality and his input to the course has given us the opportunity to learn about the newest findings and breakthroughs in sexuality studies.

The instructor was great as he presented interesting materials and kept all the slackers and disrupters in line!

One of the best classes I have taken at the University.  Dr. Vasey made the topic as interest as it would allow, although he expects a lot from his students, it’s justified. Vasey’s confidence and teaching style made the class more engaging.  Overall, great Prof, great class. Very upset Dr. Vasey is away on study leave for my last semesters at the University.

This class was a unique and instructive experience. Professor Vasey was able to approach sensitive information in a way that was both interesting and informative. The class is a true gem and I have truly enjoyed this experience.  I hope the University continues to offer such wonderful courses.

The professor was great. He was wonderful at explaining the material and giving good examples. 

It was a very interesting class and Vasey made it so.  The tests were a little harder than I had thought.  But he was very into what he does and that made the class enjoyable.

The information was interesting and engaging and I think it is important that the university continues to offer classes on the subject of sexuality.  Dr. Vasey is a very smart man and did an excellent job at presenting the information (which his is obviously enthusiastic about) in an organized and logical manner and explaining concepts in a way that made sense.

Excellent prof!  Made the class go by fast with interesting topics and pictures that he has taken.  Tests were difficult.

Unlike some instructors, Vasey is an expert in his field and it is conveyed through his lectures.  He demands respect form his students, which is necessary for the topics that arise in the course.  The tested materials come from both the lectures and the textbook (which is enjoyable to read) causing the students to make the extra effort to stay on top of studying.  While the tests are long and in depth, they are fair.  Overall, I would gladly take other classes with Vasey and would recommend him to other students.

I loved this course!  Very interesting, engaging and challenging.  This course made me feel for once like I’m getting what I want out of university; new concepts and the ability to apply skills.  The learning materials were the best part and made a huge difference in my engagement with and understanding of the material.  We need more courses like this.  Especially in Psychology.

Psyc 3845 has been one of the best classes I have ever taken!  Paul was funny and offered an understanding that really helped reinforce the course material. The inclusion of different experts on the subject matter was fantastic and it was always an adventure in Vasey’s classes--THANK YOU PAUL.

Dr. Vasey is still one of my favourite professors that the University.  The topics of the course are controversial, extremely interesting, and it is hard not to actively engage with the material.  He is more than willing to assist his students, he is sensitive to our workloads and selects readings that are the most relevant to the concepts he is teaching.  He does not tolerate disruptive behavior in class, his assignments are fair and reasonable.  His mannerisms, sense of humour and critique-based teaching style he uses make an already fascinating course even better.  By far one of my favourite courses and professors.  I have no complaints about either of them.

I really enjoyed this class.  The material and readings were always interesting and the instructor does a fantastic job of ensuring that students understand the material.  I would definitely recommend this class to other students.

Paul’s Comparative Sexuality course gave me a whole new perspective on human sexuality.  It was a great pleasure to have taken that course!

I loved how honest Paul was in the Comparative Sexuality course.  A lot of professors at the university are so politically correct that they avoid talking about anything controversial.  Paul didn’t avoid controversial topics and he always dealt with them in a respectful way.

Paul has been one of my most influential professors and I learned so much in his classes.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your class last semester. It has been my favourite class thus far in my 4 years at U of L and the only class I draw from on a regular basis. I have had many discussions with coworkers about the topics we discussed and even brought my class notes to work for discussion.

Paul is one of the most knowledgeable and personable professors I have had while in University.  He genuinely wants his students to participate in discussions and to succeed in doing well in the course. The structure of the class was excellent, as it provided much discussion between Paul and the students. Paul’s sense of humour is excellent and makes the class, which is already interesting, that much better.  The content of the course was fascinating--very informative, and also very interesting.  By far, this was my favourite course of my degree.

I needed this course to graduate, and for a 4000 level course I was very relieved by this material and the way it was taught.  It was a very intimate class, only 16 people, so we were able to discuss and understand the materials better together and with Dr. Vasey.  He made sure that we were well informed on the materials and expanded our knowledge further past the course.  He was an amazing professor for this course, and the way it was laid out in readings and tests was well spread out. I would recommend this class to anyone who can tough out his first two courses because in a smaller setting the information is less intimidating, and Vasey is a great guy in a smaller class.

Paul’s Comparative Sexuality is so important because he is teaching students how to think “right.”

This guy has documentary film crews like The Nature of Things coming to film his lectures.  The U of L is so lucky to have him. Favourite class I’ve taken so far.

Paul’s class changed the way I think and had a huge influence on me.

I can honestly say that Paul’s third year class on sexual orientation is the only class that I have done all the readings for during my entire university career.

This course was one of the best courses I have ever taken.  I feel that I learned a huge amount from the course material and what I learnt I felt has important relevance to social issues today.

Dr. Vasey is an amazing professor.  I would recommend and encourage other students in this faculty to take this course.  Dr. Vasey’s classes have created a very open and unprejudiced environment at the University and I believe that this is crucial for undergraduate students.  All the information in the course was interesting, important and enlightening.  I would take it again if I could!

Comparative Sexuality is one of the best elective courses I have ever taken.  If I did not go on to do a Business degree, I would have wanted to do research with Paul.

Everyone should take Professor Vasey’s sexuality classes.  They will forever be my favourite classes at the U of L.

I come from an extremely conservative background where the topics Dr. Vasey discusses are never mentioned.  It was a privilege to take his class and learn about these important topics that are so taboo to so many people who want to “keep a lid” on any learning about them.

I really enjoyed this class. It was very interesting. I have definitely learned a lot from this class. It was one of those classes where you actually can take something away from.

I like this class because we talked about things that other classes avoid.

I postponed graduating from the University so that I could take Paul’s 2000-level Comparative Sexuality class.  This decision was not a mistake.  It was one of the best classes I have ever taken at the university.  I would take any other classes he teaches.

This class was really good and very interesting, I have recommended it to everyone I know. I really enjoyed this class because unlike my other classes the prof used other methods rather than notes to teach us.

I tried for 2-years to get into this class.  It was worth the wait.  How many 3-hour night classes do you actually look forward to going to and stay awake for?  Paul’s Comparative Sexuality class is one of them.  I wanted more lectures, not fewer and was sorry that I couldn’t go to class during reading week.

Paul is highly organized and always comes to class well prepared. He takes great care to give not only the factual information but to also present an inside look at the topic though biographical writings or films of/from those for whom the experience is part of their life. Paul worked hard to bring his lectures to life. He is a superb facilitator of discussion and encourages everyone to actively participate without forcing the issue. I always recommend Paul's classes to my friends and acquaintances and I am always on the look out for additional opportunities to take classes with him .

The material was absolutely fascinating, but the exams were brutal! I have to say though, that is class has just expanded and liberated my brain and I am so impressed with it, I will definitely be taking more classes with Dr. Vasey.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I must say that I did really enjoy this class. It is amazing how we take so much for granted without the knowledge that we are doing just that. I feel horrible that my grade is not a proper showing in how much I did get from this class. I have no idea why I did so poorly on the last midterm, but I am taking this opportunity in telling you that this grade does not show how much I enjoyed the class. The textbooks were/are two of the few books in my university career that I have enjoyed reading, sad but most textbooks go unread unless needed. Thank you for a great learning experience. If I am to stay as a psychology student (trying to get into the social work program) I am for sure taking Dr. Vasey’s 4000 seminar.

I like Paul’s humour -- visual aids (movies) were a great addition to the course.

This has been one of my favourite classes I have ever taken at the university…the material is super interesting. Paul presents it so clearly and professionally (in a difficult area of study to do so!) and I would love to learn more about many of the topics we’ve covered in class. I’m recommending Sex & Gender Diversity to all my friends and have been telling my family about it all semester. Truly enjoyed it.

Great class, I really enjoyed myself

I liked that Paul encouraged independent thinking and not just regurgitation of the textbook. Because it is a third year class, and in a lot of classes it's hard to see where the material will fit into everyday life, so I liked that Paul got us thinking like that. I also liked how the textbook was supplementary and wasn't the main focus of the course, Paul definitely added a lot more than the textbook could have!

This was a fantastic course! Very fun! I specially enjoyed the readings---definitely not as dry as some readings!

This was SUCH an interesting class, it opened my eyes to a LOT of issues we never come across in other Psychology courses. I would (and do) recommend this course to all of my friends. Dr. Vasey is an excellent prof and I really, really enjoyed the class.

The class was really interesting and entertaining. The tests seemed really easy after writing them but the marks of the overall class were low.

Paul is a really gifted classroom instructor.

It has been my pleasure to take a number of courses from Paul Vasey. I found Paul to be an extremely passionate instructor whose enjoyment of the subject at hand as well as his desire to transfer that excitement to his students is extremely evident in his lectures.

Paul is a good teacher and will respect you if you respect him and his teachings. If you don't, you should not be in the class and he makes this very clear.

The power-point slides were very well prepared. The images really helped me remember the classroom discussion when I reviewed my notes, and I think it really helped me retain as much from the lecture as possible.

I overheard Paul saying that he wasn't going to be here next semester (bad for us, good for him!). I can only assume that he's off on another research project in the far reaches of the world---it is so great to have a professor that does such interesting work!

In terms of course content, I found the first part on evolution a little long, but I think it's because I didn't realize how relevant it was going to become! When we did start talking about human sexuality it was an extremely important base to have. So I think that the order that Paul taught the sections made learning a lot easier, and made a lot of sense!
Personally, I was a lot more interested in the human sections, and the statistically abnormal sexual behaviours, etc. but I definitely see the importance in the evolution and typical biology.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the class. Paul Vasey has made the topics discussed in class very thought provoking and engaging.

I'm in the last semester of my undergrad and this is the best course I have taken in all that time.

I found myself talking about the lectures each night at the dinner table with my family. It's all I wanted to talk about but sometimes they looked at me like I was from Mars.

I really enjoyed the class with Paul Vasey. I will surely recommend it to others. I think he is a brilliant instructor who makes class very interesting. The material covered was relevant and applicable.

The exam was a fair assessment of what we learned. The video assignments were very good supplements to the course. They made me think about the material in a different way. I think this course should be able to count as a social science or a science.

I feel that Dr. Vasey is one of the best professors the university has! He always presents in a non-judgmental, warm professional manner and promotes discussion that is in agreement with or without his viewpoint. He manages to promote the ideal atmosphere in the university—one that promotes discussion without judgement or prejudice. He is a leader in his field and I consider myself truly lucky to have experience time with him.

I liked that Paul's lectures didn't have a lot of slides, so that's good! I liked that the lectures had what was important (made it easy for studying!), I also like the format, they were well organized for reviewing. And then I liked how Paul would expand on what he was saying. And it seemed to me that there weren't a whole lot of technical terms, I know that some professors forget that we're only 2nd or 3rd year students and talk over our heads! I also liked how Paul clarified things that you felt were important, for example, the transsexual section. It was a little bit difficult to sort everything out and make sense of it, but he went over it and made sure that everyone understood. I liked the pictures that Paul would put up to illustrate his
point. And I thought that the choice of movies was very beneficial for people like me who are more visual learners.

The instructor did a fantastic job with this course. I have never been in a class where the room was packed every class. Usually class participation trails off as the semester progresses, but this class remained pretty much standing room only throughout the semester.

I enjoyed the subject matter on an academic level and I still remember, think, and use the information and topics we covered plus I truly enjoyed and appreciated those classes.

To have a professor who bothers to assert the difference between gender and sex as well as the constructed gender roles, etc. was very impressive. I really thought that was great and I believe the professor should keep it up.

Dr. Vasey taught the class as objectively as possible and made it interesting.

My favorite part of Paul's class was the fact that we were able to talk about subjects, that many people including profs, generally don't talk about in a setting that is professional and open. Before I took this class many of these topics were taboo for me, and I feel that learning about them in this type of setting has provided me with the confidence and the knowledge that I may need in the future. I also feel that as an educated person I should be well rounded. I feel that this class has completed one of the gaps that my education was lacking.

Thank you for insisting that students not talk in class.  Not having to struggle to hear your lectures over student chit-chat made the class much more enjoyable.

An essential course to take at the university level. A prerequisite for anyone interested in gender and sex studies, but also related to daily life. Thought provoking and interesting, this course will challenge your views and force you to understand them in a new light. An excellent course taught by an excellent instructor. Kudos all around!

Its my favorite class, you are a great prof, I like the material, I am just at a loss of words for my mark… I really have never done so bad in my life

I've had profs who kind of gloss over things and don't really let you know what is really important and what is more supplementary and for your own knowledge. Paul didn't do that, and I really appreciated it when it came time to study. I knew what he had emphasized and he often said that certain things were just to illustrate your points. The tests really reflected the material well and I thought were very good assessments of our knowledge. I also liked the movie assignments and thought they were good to get us thinking on our own about things.

The seminar style of Sexual Diversity was very beneficial in terms of facilitation of learning and thinking about the course material. The way the marks were distributed over a number of assignments was nondiscriminatory and facilitated success.

It is so nice to be in a class where I can read about sexual fantasy and get credit for it!

You know you are in an interesting class, when the professor is lecturing and being filmed for a documentary!  Definitely not your typical University of Lethbridge psychology class--and that’s a good thing!

I really enjoyed Paul's lectures and teaching style. His tests were a good judgement of what we were learning. I would definitely take another class from him.

I read the assigned articles as if they were novels. They were so interesting.

One thing that I definitely noticed was how fair Paul is. He definitely gave off the impression that he didn't want to trick us, but that you actually wanted us to learn! (What a surprise! Haha!)

I couldn't find one constructive critique for Paul, because I absolutely loved going and hearing what he had to say. I was actually disappointed when the exam was during class time because I wanted to learn more!! This was the only class that, when taking the exam, I could think back to the exact lecture and remember what he had said! Normally I end up teaching myself the material before the exam because I forget immediately what the prof said!!

Fantastic course! One of the only courses that I have taken that I legitimately looked forward to every week. The professor was excellent, and the tests (although at times a little on the tough side) were very fair. Interesting and entertaining material, and very well organized lectures! TWO THUMBS UP!! :)

Extremely funny prof thus makes class interesting. The material is very eye-opening. Exams are tough but fair assessments, study hard and you'll do well, or don't study and do poorly.

Dr.Vasey has made note friendy and easy to study presentations that allow students to understand difficult concepts better. He constanly made sure that the class was understanding the information that was being presented and stimulated independent thinking through questions.

I said no to more class discussion because there was plenty as it was. We did fall behind for a bit but Dr. Vasey did not discourage questions or discussions. Loved the content and mix of lecture and media such as films and YouTube videos. Vasey has a very conversational quality in his lectures. Such a great topic that I think this class should be a prerequisite for all university students. The lessons learned will last a lifetime.

Vasey, although a little scary at first, is an awesome prof and I will be taking classes with him in the future.

These exams in the class are extremely hard but overall it is a fantastic class!

Professor Vasey went above and beyond what I would have expected to help students succeed in this class when he saw that some were struggling. I think that there should have been more discussion at times, but it was totally a lack of participation by students that caused it, not the professor. Great class.

I was unsure of how I would like this course when I registered, but this is course has been my favourite class I have taken while attending university. I wish more classes were structures this way. Thank you for the great class and expanding my thinking and giving me tools to openly discuss sexual orientation.

Great class. I love Dr. Vasey's classes because they bring up very important issues in human sexuality that aren't talked about in other classes. All of the readings were very well thought out and brought forward some very interesting issues.

I found this class to be way different then I had expected. I had a pleasent surprise the first couple weeks of class. It was probably one of the best classes I've ever taken here (just having finished my third year). Professors at the University of Lethbridge could learn a lot from Dr.Vasey. He took the time to personally pick all of our readings, assign questions for them (to guide our reading) and also took the time in class to allow all of us to add our input and to discuss. I greatly appreciated the time and effort that Dr. Vasey put into our class, and hope that he offers another class soon!

I feel like I came out of this class learning so much, and it changed the way I think about things. This did not show through on my marks though.

Dr. Vasey is the most amazing and interesting professor I have ever had. This class was always an exciting and highly entertaining course and gave each student much to think about. The written assignments could have been outlined better because we didnt know what to expect the first time around, but then again more writing in psychology should be available at this school. This was an amazing class and I would recommend it to anyone

else interesting in psychology.

This is the best class I have taken out of all my university courses

On another note, on my course evaluation I forgot to mention that I love the music that's played before class. I mean, we're talking about sex, so it seems crazy not to set the mood with a little music.

Paul Vasey is the only professor at the U of L that I have taken classes with who calls students out when then are talking in class.  Why don’t more U of L professors do this?  Thank you Dr. Vasey for telling people to stop talking or leave the class when the rest of us are trying to learn.

It was a very good class.  I found it very informative. The teaching was really well done.

This course was great. Sometimes the subject matter we were learning about was quite abstract and some students had problems stomaching it.  But overall Vasey did a good job at explaining things and helping us understand them fully.  He also made sure everything was seen with an open mind.

This is without a doubt my favourite class that I have taken during my time at the U of L.  Dr. Vasey is extremely knowledgeable in his field and was very interesting to learn from. That being said, I found the tests to be quite unfair.  I was surprised at how low my mark was since I would say I’m fairly well-versed in the material.  I was very pleased with the course and feel like I will come out of it having learned a lot.  I will definitely recommend it to other students considering it in the future.

Dr. Vasey made this class interesting.  He also did and excellent job of making what many would find to be an uncomfortable course comfortable and took the “awkwardness” out of any situation that may have been awkward or embarrassing for students easily.  Dr. Vasey presented concepts and material in a fair and unbiased manner.  I would not hesitate to take a course from Dr. Vasey in the future.

I loved the class, learned a lot!  (Wow! I have lived a sheltered life! , It was HUGELY interesting and I thought Dr. Vasey was fabulous.  My only concerns; Mid-term exam #1 – some of the questions were hard to figure out.  Had quite a few concerns about Mid-term exam #2 – the class average of 63% speaks for itself.

Really liked how you would review what happened last week at the beginning of the lecture.

This class is probably one of the best courses I have ever take at the GLER.  It was so great.  I t made me consider changing my major at this late stage of my degree.  Dr. Vasey is one of the best profs I have ever had, INCLUDING profs in my own major.  His lectures are always entertaining and he presents the information in a way that makes it easy to remember.  Thank you for a wonderful class experience.

I think this class had both opened my eyes and reinforced what I already knew on the topic.  I thoroughly enjoyed taking this course.

Dr. Vasey was a flawless professor in this course. He knows how to hold the attention of the students even over a three hour night course.  I would take any course he offs in the future.  The course itself was well organized and planned.  It was very illuminating and interesting and I have already recommended it to others.  Thanks for a great semester.

I really enjoyed the professor and the course content.  My issue was that I did a large amount of studying for the tests and really felt hat I understood the content but when I took the test I didn’t really do that well.  I understand getting a bad grade if I didn’t understand the material but I really felt that I knew what I was doing. 

Dr. Vasey was one of the most interesting professors I have had from any faculty.  His knowledge was truly impressive. 

The class was very fun, hilarious, entertaining and informative.

The instructor used humor to engage the class, and was clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter.  I enjoyed the course and the instructor very much.

The lectures are great, your notes were great but your exams are hard! 

I loved this class; I loved the material and I loved Dr. Vasey- he was extremely knowledgeable, and was very clear on the concepts.

Paul was a great prof. He used humor and good, real life examples to back up his points and make the class interesting.  He was always well prepared and made precise, clear notes which I really appreciates.  I didn’t find his overall exams too difficult, but they were often very wordy.  But, overall it was a very interesting class. Human sexuality could be a hard subject to teach, but he was definitely the right man for the job!

In class, Vasey’s lectures are well-informed and he does a fine job on explaining the material given to the students, this is a touchy course and there are some matters that can be quite embarrassing to some but he makes you feel comfortable with some of the issues discussed in class he is a great instructor, I just wish he would post the lectures on-line and help prepare the students to succeed on the tests given.

Course material was very interesting and kept me highly motivated. My only problem is the exams.

Great class.  Interesting material.  My favorite class thus far.  Paul, you made this class interesting and attention grabbing.  Three hours went by quickly.  You knew what you were talking about, and stimulated discussion outside the classroom.  It’s sad to say goodbye!

Class material was interesting.  Not sure what the class averages are, but for course level and type I found the tests to be quite difficult.  Overall experience was very positive.    Class was interesting and I learned a lot about human sexuality.

Paul Vasey is now my favorite professor.  He was entertaining, made it easy to learn, and made a 3 hour night class actually ENJOYABLE.  Only class I know that people who are not actually signed up for attend.  I will really really miss this class!  Great professor and deserves a raise or something. His exams are slightly unfair, but not bad.  I would recommend and have recommended this course to everyone.

I enjoyed this class a lot and was able to learn a lot from it.  The open discussion atmosphere of the class enabled the students to express their opinions about a controversial subject in a comfortable way.  Excellent class – would suggest it to any of my friends.

Dr. Vasey is probably one of the most well rounded professors I have ever had.  I also glad I decided to take this class, I don’t think I could ever get this type of knowledge anywhere else.  The class is definitely not for everybody, but I appreciate the time and structure that was involved in this class, with the research and the movies.

Very interesting class! Wish there was another 3000 level course like it!  Teacher is PERFECT for this class.  Learnt so much.  Vasey allows you to be comfortable when speaking of topics that would usually make you uncomfortable!

Don’t expect to take this class and get an A, but do expect that it will change the way you think about the world.

Dr. Vasey is a remarkable researcher and that often doesn’t translate into being a good teacher.  In his case, it does.  He explains the concepts fully and in enough detail that they were relatable and understandable as well as funny when it was time to be.  As well, the course material is dealt with in a mature way so as not to make anyone uncomfortable.  I am very pleased with this course and have learned things that I never knew existed outside the world to which I’m accustomed.  It gave me new insights and interests.  It also made me look at my fellow students in a different way… Dr. Vasey says all the thing that we’re afraid to ask.  I  thoroughly enjoyed this course.

Comments about Dr. Vasey: 1) He ALWAYS had/made time for student comments; he makes students feel important and really valued class discussion which is a VERY important aspects of university for me, which I have not been getting in my other psych classes. 2) He is very knowledgeable in the subject of homosexual sexuality and psychology in general; he is also not afraid to say he doesn’t know the answer to everyone’s question, which I respect a lot more than feeding us untrue information.  3) He is approachable, friendly, and strict (with disruptive students), expects a lot from us and challenges our comments and answers (in a respectful way). 4) I have nothing bad to say about his teaching, he is the epitome of what I want in a professor; thanks Dr. Vasey. 5) I also liked how he employed the use of videos, lectures class discussions, assignments, and his own experiences (in Samoa) in order to provide a more diverse learning environment.  Comments about the Course: 1) This course has been influential in my life, helping me to understand my own sexuality and be understanding of other sexualities out there. 2) It also has helped me to realize that we are blessed is Canada to be able to be taught this course and that the U of L has had a huge impact of the study of human sexuality…very cool. 4) Again, I have nothing bad to say about the course, which is really odd because I usually have both positive and negatively “constructive” things to say.
