  1. Ground Breaking Paper Earns Vasey Lab Prestigious Award


  1. The Society of the Scientific Study of Sexuality has awarded Doug P. VanderLaan, Zhiyuan (Lance) Ren and Paul L. Vasey the Ira and Harriet Reiss Theory Award for their article entitled, “Male Androphilia in the Ancestral Environment: An Ethnological Analysis”, which was published in the journal Human Nature. Doug will be giving a plenary address based on this work in November of next year at the 2015 SSSS Annual Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

  1. Paul’s former Post-Doctoral supervisor, Jim Pfaus, visited the Department of Neuroscience at the U of L and Paul had the honor of introducing him before his talk on “How Sexual Pleasure Links Neural Mechanisms of Sexual Arousal, Desire, Preference and Performance” Here’s a photo.


  1. Paul L. Vasey attended the 2014 Canadian Sex Research Forum Meeting October 24-26 in Kingston, Ontario. Paul was a member of the Scientific Program Committee for this year’s meeting.


  1. A book chapter by Paul L. Vasey & Doug VanderLaan entitled “Trasgendered Male Androphilia in the Human Ancestral Environment” was published in the edited volume, The Evolution of Sexuality. Thanks to the Editors, Todd Shackelford & Randy Hansen, who called our Samoan work “stunningly creative.”

  1. Paul L. Vasey appeared on CBC Radio’s Edmonton AM discussing his cross-cultural research with Barnaby Dixson on men’s beards, which was published in Behavioral Ecology.

  1. On March 15, Emma Yong gave a presentation (co-authored with Lanna Petterson & Paul Vasey) entitled  “Childhood Cross-sex Wishes and Their Association with Adult Sexual Orientation in Japan” at the Meeting of the Minds Conference in Lethbridge, Alberta. Great job Emma!

  1. On February 15th Paul Vasey presented a talk entitled “Does elevated separation anxiety in feminine boys reflect prosocial tendencies rather than pathology? Nonclinical evidence from Canada and Samoa” at the World Association for Transgender Health meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.


  1. On February 8th Paul Vasey and Anne Perkins participated in a Q &A session following a screening of the documentary Survival of the Fabulous at the Myrna Loy Center for the Performing and Media Arts in Helena, Montana.  During the visit, Paul was lucky enough to visit Dr. Perkin’s ranch.  Here are some photos of Anne and Paul with Anne’s famous rams.
