This is Erin Duerksen's very first
armouring project, finished in October of 2009. It is loosely based on
a number of different Anime-type armours from Poland and Eastern Europe.
Although the originals were articulated on sliding rivets, this
breastplate is riveted solidly together for simplicities' sake, in fact
making it closer in function to the later gothic breastplates of
medieval Germany. Either way, this piece is extremely well-suited for
modification to accommodate the female body (note the very slight bulge
in the upper part of the breastplate). The knees and greaves are
integral to the rest of the breastplate and mounted on leathers, but do
not match it's time period - they are an SCA-ism for reasons of safety.
