Fixed: Recording is not working on new Roland FP-30x (answer: factory reset)

I recently bought a Roland FP-30x as part of a reboot of my music and recording hobbies. And sure enough, when I took a break yesterday from work to doodle around I ran into an interesting chord progression.
Quick! Get that down!
Fortunately the FP-30x has a feature that allows you to record small snippets. So look up how to do it (“Record” button to arm; “Play/Stop” button to start; “Play/Stop” to stop again; and “Play/Stop” a third time to listen). And go for it: “Record” > “Play/Stop” > music > “Play/Stop” > “Play/Stop” and…
Nothing.
No matter what I did, I couldn’t get it to play me back what I’d recorded. Disappointing in a new machine!
Of course I’m not the only person to have had this issue, so some quick Googling around found me a post on Reddit that recommended doing a factory reset — a recommendation that was confirmed by several other redditers.
And so I did. Factory-reset a keyboard that had just come from the factory (hold down the function key and then press power; when the instrument, function, metronome, Play/Stop and Record LEDs come on, the process is finished).
And it worked. Recording problem solved.
