Book: Dreamweaver MX by Nick Vandome

Source: Barnes & Noble 2003

This is my first attempt at making a few notes for this book, which I bought in Great Falls on October 24.

Chap. 1 Introducing Dreamweaver [p. 7 - 28]

  • information on the Insert panel. This involves simply clicking on an icon to activate the insert action.
  • one can edit an image using Macromedia Fireworks
  • Accessibility is an area that I have yet to implement. I understand the rationale of making pages more accessible for the visually impaired, and how this would work for images, but was surprised to see it also applied to tables.

My first reaction is that it is about time that I compared what I know with the information available in introductions to Dreamweaver.

The Insert panel looks like a quicker way for inserting tables and images than using the Insert menu, which is the way I have been doing it so far!

I have yet to look at Fireworks, even though it is installed on my computer.

I have changed the settings in Preferences to prompt me for information for both images and tables. I am not yet sure what information is expected for tables, but will soon find out.

I have a fair amount of work in front of me, making my course pages accessible. My personal pages should also conform to the standard, but this may take more time than I have at the moment.

I also used the drag feature which Michelle showed me in our last class to make a link to a page within the web site. This is another useful and efficient technique.

Notes for chapter one
This is an example of a table that satisfies the accessibility guidelines. Look at the HTML code to see what has been added.

Reminder: each "Learning" session has a new web page.
