GC2FH3Y SAY WHAT YOU WANT N 50° 02.450 W 110° 40.610Difficulty 2; Terrain 1.5; size micro; Creator: s.f.g. (originally skyhawks) Date First Hidden: 9/21/2010 Date Last Found: 10/12/2010 Medicine HatDescription This is a redo of GCVTW4 by skyhawks This was one of the first really good camo ones i did when first starting, and when i saw it got archived i felt a sadness pulling at what i can only assume was my heart (although it could have been indigestion as well?!) Either way, I've kept everything from GCVTW4. Their coords, D/t, and hint. Below is the original description and then their hint. I don't know if it's as good as the original but for those of you who have done the first one, here's a free smiley and for those who have not done this yet.. I hope you enjoy.
---------------original description-------------- Located in a small downtown park that commemorates the British Army Training Unit Suffield. The park has a speaker's podium that is meant to remind us all of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This park can be a high traffic area at certain times of the day. Stealth should be used to retrieve and replace the cache as you found it. In order to find this cache, nothing has to be moved or disturbed in any way. (Other than removing the cache to sign the log.) The cache is visible and in clear sight. It is considered a micro size because it is not large enough to hold any trade items, but it is not tiny. It is camoflaged / disguised so that it blends with it's location and it only contains a log. Bring your own writing stick. Use one of the nearby benches to sit and sign the log. PLEASE RESPECT THE PARK AND THE ENVIRONMENT - DO NOT DESTROY THINGS WHILE YOU SEARCH.
Hint If you have something to say, you may want to gather a crowd. When you speak, you can be either positive or negative in what you have to say. The main thing is you want your words to stick with your audience. As a listener, you may be attracted to or repelled by what the speaker has to say. IT IS NOT A FILM CANISTER THAT IS COVERED WITH CAMOFLAGED DUCT TAPE!!! Comments
PLANNING
I followed the same plan as yesterday. This time I decided to try for a cache in the center of the city and then work my way around the downtown core.
I ended the trip with only 2 finds out of 2 searches. Basically the problem was a combination of a lack of planning and some difficult time with the first two searches. In both cases I overlooked the location on my first iteration and only found it after a very careful search on the second iteration of the possibilities. Then I got turned around in the downtown area and had difficulty locating the next two caches. By then the battery on my GPS was running low (I had an extra battery with me) and I had very little to show for it. The next cache turned out to be missing but I had failed to read the logs for that site and spent considerable time in some dense underbrush before I decided to check the description on my iPhone. Rats. Time to head home, earlier than I planned, but I knew today was simply not working. Total time about 6 hours: 4 hours driving to and from Medicine Hat and 2 hours searching for caches.
OUTCOME
11:25 am. This was my second find of the morning. It was another lengthy process. After searching all of the possible hiding spots near the coordinates I widened my search and eventually spotted the hide. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Nice hide. SL. TFTC. Here is a photo:
small aluminum cover
I am now 2/2 for today, but it has taken me almost 2 hours of searching.
