GC27FT6 Beyond the Grave N 50° 01.517 W 110° 41.058Difficulty 2; Terrain 1.5; size micro; Creator: Chellebe Date First Hidden: 4/25/2010 Date Last Found: 10/09/2010 Medicine HatDescription In this well kept but no longer used cemetery, during the period of 1884 to 1923, there were 627 burials. Some re-interments later occurred to Hillside Cemetery, leaving a total of 594 known burials still resting at this location. You will notice a large number of small children and infant headstones. This is due to the Spanish Flu which was from 1918 to 1920. Bring your own writing stick. Hint Comments
PLANNING
This was a new experiment for me. I had downloaded a large number of caches in the Medicine Hat area to my GPS unit using a pocket query. I then headed out and as I approached a cache icon on my GPS I would enter the GC code into my iPhone to obtain a description and the coordinates. I was curious to see how well this would work.
OUTCOME
1:25 PM This was my 11th search. I left Lethbridge at 7:10 am. This was a large tree but I was able to use the coordinates to give me a sense of which side of the tree to focus on. Then I looked in the branches and there was the container, right in front of me. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
