IDENTIFICATION
GC15NR7 Rest at the Rhone -- Highway 33 N 49° 12.925 W 119° 00.762Difficulty 1; Terrain 1.5; size regular; Creator: Groundhog & Shadow Date First Hidden: 9/03/2007 Date Last Found: 9/19/2010 rural BCDescription This regular cache is hid at the Rhone Rest Area (or also called Kettle Valley Rest Area) off of Highway 33 between Beaverdell and Rock Creek. It contains the usual geocache note, logbook, pencil, and trading items. Sorry, forgot to leave a FTF prize. This should be a quick cache find away from the eyes of stopping muggles. The passing muggles shouldn't be a problem. There are many picnic tables here and some have views of the West Kettle River. There is also river access for canoists. Across the river is the West Kettle Valley Trans Canada Trail (TCT) which is a popular cycling trail. The road to Conkle Lake Provincial Campground is not far from here as well. (If you turn off on this road and cross the bridge you should be able to access the West Kettle Valley TCT off the Blythe Rhone Road. Of interest: Paul Lautard's War Memorial in Rhone has become a rest stop for cyclists. Paul has built a beautiful shelter with hammock inside, an out house and picnic table on the site and a bicycle railing for leaning heavily ladened pannier bicycles against.)
Hint Nestled in the triplets. Comments
PLANNING
This was a travel day as we drive from Kelowna to Nelson, BC. I identified 8 caches along our route. Then, depending on the time, I may add a few more while we are in Nelson.
OUTCOME
10:30 am. This was my 4th search of the day. There was only one triplet in the area, making this an easy find. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Nice place for a stop. TNLNSL. TFTC. Here are a few photos:
