IDENTIFICATION
GC29GE8 Faces of Carmi N 49° 29.710 W 119° 07.561Difficulty 1.5; Terrain 1.5; size regular; Creator: Groundhog & Shadow Date First Hidden: 5/31/2010 Date Last Found: 9/10/2010 rural BCDescription This cache, hid in a plastic mayo jar, is about 15m off of the old KVR rail/trail by the rest station for cyclists. It holds swag, logbook, geocache note, and pencil. You will see why I called this cache what I did as the lady who lives in the house opposite the cache is the proprietor of what she calls the Teddybear Hotel. According to her, her home is where the Stationmaster had lived, and next door was the old post office of Carmi. I made her aware of the cache and geocaching so if she spots anyone searching she won't be alarmed -- so she is a good muggle. Read the signage for lots of history about the old hotel etc. You can access this cache by parking at the coords listed below and walking a very short distance (less than 100m), or quadding or biking down the KVR from either direction. We placed this cache while quadding down from Arlington Lakes Rec Site on our way to Beaverdell.
Hint Camo'd and inside birch bark, covered with bark and small branch. Comments
PLANNING
This was a travel day as we drive from Kelowna to Nelson, BC. I identified 8 caches along our route. Then, depending on the time, I may add a few more while we are in Nelson.
OUTCOME
9:30 am. This was my 2nd search of the day. Another easy find. After pulling into the suggested parking area I began walking down the old Kettle Valley Railroad roadbed. Then all of a sudden, off to my right, the name of the cache made sense. The cache was off to the left but a relatively easy find. I do like regular size containers. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Great location for a cache! TNLNSL. TFTC. Here are a few photos:
