GCQ9HN Vernon’s Polson Park - Take Time to See d’Rose! N 50° 15.595 W 119° 16.181Difficulty 2; Terrain 1; size regular; Creator: Groundhog & Shadow Date First Hidden: 8/25/2005 Date Last Found: 9/14/2010 Vernon BCDescription This cache is located in Polson Park, located near the heart of Vernon, B. C. adjacent to Highway 97 and Highway 6. Hidden under bark, the cache could be as close as 2m from your vehicle, depending on where you park. This would normally be a fairly easy cache to find, however, the challenge is searching for it and retrieving it without drawing too much attention to yourself -- as this is a heavy muggle area. Good luck! When logging, please tell of any creative ideas you used to keep muggles in the dark. “The park was established in 1908 when Samuel Polson donated a large parcel of land to the city. Polson Park is probably best known for the Floral Clock that was installed in 1958. The date is changed daily and it provides a great photo with its colourful background. Further into the park you will find the Japanese Garden, which was donated by the Japanese Community and the Chinese Pagoda, which was donated by the Chinese Community. Both were constructed in 1967 as Centennial Projects. The Rose Garden, a perennial favorite, is located in the south east of the park. Further SE is the Polson Park Walkway, a Rotary Club project. This path and boardwalk crosses Vernon Creek and its wetlands. There are also two ponds in the park which support an abundance of waterfowl. The most recent addition is the water fountain at the NW corner of Polson Park, close to one of the entrances. Polson Park offers lots to do and see for both residents and visitors to our community. Many picnic or just feed the ducks. A water spray playground is very popular with children of all ages, and is adjacent to the playground. The park also supports two tennis courts, a running track and a skateboard park. Located in the park is the Lawn Bowling Club, the Interior Space and Science Centre, the Arts Council and Vernon Heritage Hall.“ After finding this, you can check out 5 other caches in Polson Park! "Between Boardwalk & ParkPlace - Homemade in Canada" at N50 15.217 W119 16.006 (multi), "Thank You Archie", "Sleep With the Fishes", MoMo Menangerie & Hide & Seek TB Hotel. Also within walking distance is Justice Court Park at N50 15.856 W119 16.057. Enjoy & happy geocaching! Hint Don’t waste time barking up the wrong tree! About halfway down side of triangle. Comments
PLANNING
This was our second day in Vernon. We had some time for geocaching before we drove down to Kelowna so I set up a list of 5 possible caches.
OUTCOME
10:30 am. This was my 5th search of the day. I finally found a large container that could hold my "Goldie" TB. Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
