GC21FXG Zany Junk Swap N 50° 15.900 W 119° 17.381Difficulty 2; Terrain 1.5; size large; Creator: Groundhog & Shadow Date First Hidden: 11/28/2009 Date Last Found: 9/11/2010 Vernon BCDescription You know the saying: One man's junk is another man's treasure. . . So, hidden in a small rubbermaid container, this cache holds items you might find at a garage sale or flea market, as well as the logbook, pencil and geocache note. Items in the cache initially are: FTF prize, salad bowl set, pottery vase, coloring book, CD, large hair clips, soap set, ladie's wallet & change purse & bag of golf balls. This is the place to bring those (medium or small size) brand new items that you received as gifts but never used, or items that you no longer want, but are in good condition. If you log in what you swap, others might want to make a visit just to get the treasure you left. Come and swap as many times as you want (only log 1 find though), but please trade as fairly as you can, and DO NOT leave McDonald toys or other trinkets, or broken toys/items. Remember that the cache should contain items you might buy at a flea market. If you bring something breakable, please wrap it in bubblewrap. Some ideas: cookbooks, DVD's, CD's, knickknacks, small stuffies, tools, jewelery, salt & pepper shakers The GPS was really bouncy because of the nearby rock bluff so I wasn't really happy with the coords that I got. That's the reason for the 2 Difficulty. There's parking for one vehicle nearby. The cache is hid between/under two very large boulders at the edge of the boulder pile and covered by a piece of concrete block, piece of wood, and a rock or two. Don't feel overwhelmed! You won't have to go amongst all those boulders/rocks, but you will probably have to get down on your hands and knees to retrieve this one. Luckily it is out of view of muggles' windows and passing vehicles. Muggles walking their dog are few and far between so you should have the area to yourself. Depending on how popular this flea market swap is, I might consider using a large rubbermaid container instead. P.S. Here's a "Z" cache for the Alphabet Soup challenge cache in Kelowna.
Hint Close to tree, go under tree branch. Piece of wood shows the way and will hopefully stay. Comments
PLANNING
This was our first full day in Vernon. I had the afternoon to myself to do some geocaching so made a list of 14 geocaches and headed out to see what would happen.
OUTCOME
3:45 PM This was my 11th, and last, search of the day.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
This was my 800th find and my 10th in Vernon. Thanks to all for the wide variety of caches. The battery on my GPS gave out as I began this search using only the description. Then I remembered that I had a second battery for just this situation. I finally got to use it and made a quick find. Here are a few photos:
