PLANNING
The Crowsnest Pass is one of my favorites geocaching areas. I set up a plan to search for 10 caches near Highway 3, one of which was a puzzle cache that I solved a few weeks ago.
OUTCOME
12:40 PM. This was my 10th, and last, search of the day. I had noticed that this cache was still a possible First To Find, so I added it to my list for the day. I gave it a good try but was not able to find it.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Decided to try for this one on my way back to Lethbridge after finding 9 CP caches. However I was not able to spot this one. Maybe next time? But it was peaceful. I am now 9/10 for today. Once again, when I had a DNF, I forgot to take any photos of the area I was searching.
The following message appeared on August 31:
N 49° 35.514 W 114° 26.389 ** Coordinates Changed From ** N 49° 35.450 W 114° 26.383 Distance From Old: 390 feet or 118.9 meters. After at least 4 DNF's and an email from a fellow cacher, we decided to check the coordinates and the cache itself, to see what the problem was. The cache is fine, just where we left it. The problem, much to my horror, were the coordinates. It put the cache on the wrong side of the road and a hundred yards or more in the wrong direction. Of the 25 caches we have placed, this is the first that I have made an error on in the coordinates. My apologies to all who have looked for it, several cachers checked several times for it. How the coords were out by so much, I do not know as my gps is usually dead on. We took numerous reading, rechecking this cache. The location, once you find it, is prone to hinder accurate gps readings, so please be patient in your search. Once again, my apoligies and a hard lesson learned. Happy caching, Passtrackers
