The Inn on the Border restaurant located below these coords on the south side of Hwy 3 is unique because half is in BC and half is in Alberta. To log this cache email me what you find at the posted coordinates. Inn on the Border is situated on the Continental Divide of North America. A valley cuts through the Canadian Rocky Mountains. 300 million years ago this area had an enormous earth upheaval creating mountains that covered what was once a large swamp. An abundance of coal was created from the decay and compression of vegetation. At the turn of the century, coal mining became the main industry in this area.
Hint Stand on the posted coords and face the Inn on the Border restaurant located below. There is a major bend in the Borders at this point. You are half in Alberta and half in British Columbia. Line up the center of the Inn and then the cut line heading NW.What you are looking for is just below you. Comments
PLANNING
The Crowsnest Pass is one of my favorites geocaching areas. I set up a plan to search for 10 caches near Highway 3, one of which was a puzzle cache that I solved a few weeks ago.
OUTCOME
12:00 PM. This was my 7th search of the morning. This was very close to GC2B32R CROWSNEST VIEW which I was at a couple of hours earlier (search #4 of the day) but I didn't realize it at the time.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
I should have realized this cache was nearby when I found another one. But it was a short hike to retrace my steps and solve this one. Email is on the way. Here is the view from the coordinates:
I am now 7/7 for today.
