PLANNING
I bought a Spot GPS Messenger device a couple of days ago and wanted to begin familiarizing myself with the characteristics of the tracking feature. There have been 3 new caches in Claresholm recently so I decided to drive there (about an hour) and try to find the 3 recent caches as well as one older one.
OUTCOME
This was my first search today. The Spot device seems to be working (I am in iPhone contact with home). It is not ideal in that it only posts a point on a map every 10 minutes but that still provides a good general sense of how one is progressing even though the connecting line doesn't follow the curves of the highway or the intricacies of a search once one approaches the cache site.
