GC141EG Porcupine Fire Lookout Cache N 49° 53.146 W 114° 00.320Difficulty 2; Terrain 2.5; size regular; Creator: Sleepy_hollow Date First Hidden: 7/01/2007 Date Last Found: 9/04/2009 ruralDescription The Porcupine Lookout Cache is located a short distance from the lookout tower. The hike to the cache site is a short but steady uphill climb during which you need to be on the look out for roots, rocks and the odd small hole in the trail. Once near the lookout, the short walk to the cache is through a thinly treed forest to the ridge area looking west to where the cache is hidden.
The Porcupine Lookout Cache is a regular sized square LnL container with a small selection of trading items, logbook and pencils. When you visit the cache site be sure to check out the brass cap under the centre of the lookout and Porky's Cache a short distance to the north ( 170 + metres ). Have fun!
Hint Base of rock behind a small tree. Comments
PLANNING
I set up a route that would involve 12 geocaches along Highway 22 north of Pincher Creek. I also made note of 4 caches in Claresholm in the event that I had time left after the first 12 had been searched. The intent was the simple one of trying to clear the southern end of the valley between the Porcupine Hills on the east and the Livingstone Range on the west of all "unfound" caches. I left home about 7:30 am.
OUTCOME
11:40 am This was my 5th search of the morning. This was a relatively short walk from the Porky's cache that I had found 20 minutes earlier.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
Found Porky's first, then walked back to find this one. Forgot about the brass cap. Nothing like a good excuse to return again. Thoroughly enjoyed the drive to get here. Interesting geology near the cache site. TNLNSL. Thanks for bringing me to this area. Here are a few photos:

I am now 5/5 for today. I was surprised that it had also been almost a year since this cache was last found. Now to continue with my revised plan to find caches 6 - 12, in the reverse order from my original plan.
