PLANNING
I created a set of 6 searches in two Provincial Parks. I then added another 8 searches for backup in the event that I finished searching for the first six and still had time on my hands. The goal was to add 2 more provincial parks to my total for Alberta. Eventually I will have searched in almost all of the parks in the province that have caches. This promises to be a full day, with lots of driving to and from the search areas.
OUTCOME
1:05 PM. It was about a 30 minute drive from Kinbrook Provincial Park to Dinosaur Provincial Park. I parked the truck at the Headless Hadrosaur exhibit and then walked into the desolate area. I realized that I was soon going to be out of sight of the truck and made sure of a couple of landmarks so I wouldn't get lost. There was no obvious path and the terrain had me going up and down a few hills and gulleys before I finally arrived at the cache site.
Here is my posting to the geocaching.com website:
My first time off the beaten track in this type of terrain. Fascinating. Important to keep one's sense of direction for the return trip. TNLNSL. TFTC. Here are a few photos:
